From what I gather... That's like saying that just because a topic was made in 2007 and I joined 2009 it gives me right to necro because I wasn't active when the topic was made.

If a topic is old, simply don't reply to it. Unless what you write is helpful or really relevant to the topic. Well, from what I gather, that's what makes it okay.
