An upcoming feature, which is already partially implemented, will be automating several things around the site.

First off, a daily process will PM members who have had items deleted in the past 24 hours. This process will only run once a day, so members will receive only one PM, with all their deleted items listed (opposed to a PM for each deletion).

Secondly, and this is the part that is already in place, you can see how many days are left until your deleted item is permanently removed. This is so you know how much time you'll have to appeal the item and, if we were wrong in deleting it, get it approved for un-deletion.

Finally, the process by which items (and their associated data, like comments and screenshots) are permanently removed will be automated. This will ensure a fair 31 days for everyone, and help keep the site clutter-free.


Pretty much everything is done, but I have to put the various pieces together and do some testing. Shouldn't take more than a day or two, so consider it implemented. EVERYONE with deleted items is having their timer reset so that we're all at the same starting place with this new system.

Everyday, when the clock is X, a P.M to every person that had an item deleted the last 24 hours is sent, with a list of all the items deleted, instead of individual messages to each one. So, I wondered if everyone would get this message, or just the people that had an item deleted.

Just to simplify it.

You mean for example...

If person A and B both made reportable items and had them deleted.

Would they get a shared list showing both of A and B's deleted items, or would the list be individual making only A see his list, and B his.

I'd find it unlikely, though.

If you ment the opposite that the whole community gets to see the list every 24 hours, I find that more unlikely. :p But that's for SB to answer.

Nope. PMs added like this ignore the inbox limit.

If you mean in terms of data storage, naw. Remember it's only once a day, so unless you make shitty items every day, it's not a problem.

Yeah but we're nearing a  million members right? So say if 1/4 of those members make really shitty items that just happened to be deleted, and since some will continue to do so and some will wait then do it again, won't it all add up eventually?

Not more than it already does. Disk space is not a problem for us at all, so even if it is a ton, it shouldn't make much of a difference.
