I've setup a membergroup that is exactly the same as a regular member, but with wiki editing access. I've tested it and there seems to only be one place that acts funky (in v3) because of it, and that's just what the membergroup is actually stated as on the author page (an easy fix... or something so negligible that I can ignore it since v3 won't be around much longer).

With that done, I'm willing to upgrade regular members that wish to have editing access.

The following stipulations apply:

• Only request access if you plan on actively editing the wiki
  
• Defacing the wiki in any way will get you perma banned from WoW-V (no second chances)
  
• Only established members will be granted access (if you're brand new, with no items or posts, we won't risk it)
  
• It would be best if you understood the basics of wiki editing prior to requesting access (we won't teach you the bare basics... read some of the guides on MediaWiki's site)
  
• Adhere to the standards! (the Community Portal page explains them)

If you meet the above requirements, and the rules sound reasonable to you, then post here and I'll move you to the proper group. The default permissions you get will be:

    * Create discussion pages (createtalk)
    * Create pages (which are not discussion pages) (createpage)
    * Edit pages (edit)
    * Mark edits as minor (minoredit)
    * Move pages (move)
    * Move pages with their subpages (move-subpages)
    * Move root user pages (move-rootuserpages)
    * Override files on the shared media repository locally (reupload-shared)
    * Purge the site cache for a page without confirmation (purge)
    * Read pages (read)
    * Send e-mail to other users (sendemail) <--- not applicable, as all(?) email functionality has been disabled
    * Use of the write API (writeapi)

Remember: we want ACTIVE editors. If you just want access for e-peen reasons, don't apply.

If you get access, your login information will be the same as it is on WoW-V (we use SMF integration).

Well I definitely can follow all of those guidelines, so if you'd like me on your editing team, I'd be glad to help out.

I can follow the rules, no problems. I also don't spend much time do anything on my computer but stare at forums all day (minecraft keeps crashing on me, sadly) so I can spend my time doing wiki editing, that is, if you want me ofcourse, but its your choice :)

I have a new method of making people have wiki status automatically, I just need to code it and implement the cron.

The only problem is that if a user has their password set as their account name, it freaks out. Of course, that type of password is extremely frowned upon to begin with (and why SMF allows it is beyond me), but users will need to change their password if that's the case BEFORE they try to log into the Wiki.

I'll work on implementing the new method today. It's not difficult, but I have to make absolutely sure all exceptions are done properly or people may accidentally lose their donor/sponsor/staff positions. And we also don't want banned people to have access, nor do we want to keep them out if they are unbanned at some point.

The requirements will be forum post-based, as the idea behind it is that forum frequenters are the ones who would be most likely to contribute on the wiki as well.
