@Persian: The anti-ad thing is just a pet peeve of mine. I hate how much room ads use and how ugly they make the site look. I also hate that everyone and their brother uses them, despite 90% of those people not needing it.
@BB: We are closer to 60k accounts. Sure there are some inactives, but the point of the site isn't to have an "Active users only" count of accounts. And it wouldn't matter if I made the site private... the CPU usage would remain the same. The ONLY reason I would ever consider a private site is if the workload of the GMs is just too much to handle and I'm tired of seeing garbage items.
Since I don't make money on this site, the only way I have to gauge its success is by the number of accounts, posts, items, downloads, hits, etc. I'm a "stats man", so I'm not about to sabatoge the only thing that gives me any sense of joy from the site.

I'm fine with the ads I don't think they are THAT ugly.. personally I'm kinda bothered by Gold Seller ads given that I take a heavy stance against those kind of things, but thats just me, if its generating income then I really don't care =p

I agree, I hate the Gold Selling ads... Do they even give you Gold after you purchase it? I think its all just a scam. Never used it. Never will. And I agree... I hate the green title

If we know anyone is attempting to cheat the ads just to get us more money, you will be perma-banned. If any user tells you to click the ads or anything in fashion relating to ads, let one of the admins know and we deal with that user quickly and without mercy. Any attempt artificially increase funds will not be tolerated, even from an Admin or Moderator.
In fact, any further mention of cheating the ads will earn any user a 24 hour suspension for their first offense. If it's up to me, the 2nd time is permanent ban.

Now? I've got a job, I pay the bills. I've got things to do and learn to try make my life better eventually. I don't have time to waste scrapping up some measly in game gold. I want to enjoy a game, not spend my life working in a game and in life as well.
I do, however, acknowledge that excessive gold buying can jack the prices of items... However, Blizzard already has flooded their game with so many ways to get easily get gold yourself (still time consuming mind you, but more effective then pre-TBC farming) that the prices of desired items spiked.
I've always enjoyed cheating games (except FFVIII... I still play that game without cheating now and then) and I always will. I love exploring the limits of game and having everything a game has to offer at my finger tips. NOTE: I don't care for instant kill or instant win cheating. I like to still "earn" the win, even if it's with things I'm not supposed to get til the end ^.^
Of all the games I've played and used cheats, FF8 remains the only game where my cheating didn't make a huge difference. I felt that all I did was save myself time instead breaking the game. You can, without cheating, achieve the lionheart on Disc 1. <3 <3 <3 So in the end, the game wasn't really impacted by me having it to face Ifrit. ^.^
In the end, like it or not, it's a viable way to play. Is it right? Maybe not, but I don't think breaking rules on a silly game should really stop someone from trying to enjoy a game. That said, in multi-player games, cheating should be contained to the point that players are not DIRECTLY hampered by your cheating. Getting gear that you could get with a great deal of time and effort by short cutting I don't feel is wrong. Getting gear that no one else can get without cheating as well, is not right. Hacking in a BG isn't right because it makes them pointless for the losing side. If you want to cheat PvP... hack your honor and enter the BG ready to do only what anyone else could do without hacking.

Powerleveling is the thing that pisses me off really, because 99% of your skill with a character you learn while leveling AND its just sheer laziness =p (no offense) I went to school for 7-8 hours a day and then turned around and came home, did chores/work and played WoW for at most 2 hours a day, but had a 60 within 2 months, its not hard at all really.
It boils down to, I spent lots of work making my character what it is, its kinda upsetting to see someone get everything I got and then some by spending $70 and no time, it seems really really unfair.
Nothing against you of course =p its just friendly arguing.

I bust my ass for that money. School is NOTHING compared to real life. I know, I slept in school, I dicked off in school and played games half the time. Now? I push carts in rain, snow, sleet, hail, high winds, cold, heat, and deal with douche bag managers that can take my job away from me. I can't afford to lose the job yet.
If I spend $70 on gold so I can get a week of good nights of sleep instead of spending it playing WoW, then I could care fucking less.
I've powered leveled a couple toons and I have had no problem with them. I've advanced in raiding, was after t2 without t1 with my priest, I've got some t4 with my shaman and was looking to finish the set until I quit wow.
The only thing gold farmers do is accelerate the addition of gold into the market. It would have been there in time. There's so many players now with so much gold that it doesn't matter as much as it used to in pre-TBC. Buying gold in TBC is kind of stupid even to me, but Pre-TBC, I was all for it.
I don't need 2 months to learn a stupid game or a class in it. Give me a week or two with everything they got and I'll go raiding and make progress. I hate PvP because Blizzard jack-knives the class balance too much.
Fucking hate that hunters can dispell my ES... before I could own a hunter, now they rape me.... so much for 'balance'

Thats my issue, two seperate worlds, the job has nothing to do with it, so you do real work for your money and have the right to spend it on whatever, but its against the rules and boundaries of the game itself to do such THATS the issue, if it wasn't such a bad thing don't you think Blizzard would've had their own gold selling/item selling service by now?
Other MMO's do it, look at Silk Road and games like that, they run entirely on microsubscriptions like that, and it HIGHLY imbalances the game in every possible way, players who dump real money in the game get ahead of everyone else, it really hurts the playerbase as a whole.
And you can't use the "just because it gets drowned out" thing as an excuse, just because its only a small portion doesn't mean it doesn't affect the economy on paramount levels, on Norgannon (my server) because of a bunch of gold buying bastards our economy is fucked.
I've seen players who got powerleveled and sit there not knowing a hunter can rez their pet, I saw a shaman who had 0/0/0 as his talents and Skullflame fucking shield as his shield at 70, the point is real money shouldn't get you anything in the game, it wouldn't be in the rules if there wasn't a reason.
Once again, friendly debating =p
